Engrish, the mangled English so ubiquitous on translated signs all around Asia has deserved its own subgenre in China: Chinglish. Agreed, Chinese is drastically different from western languages, but so far they definitely take the crown title. I’m not sure if the meaning of the sign would have appeared silly to us or if the translations are really poor but regardless, their epidemic refusal to hire translators sure makes for very funny or head-scratching signs.
